Arsenal could make a huge profit this summer on a player who hasn’t played a single game for them this season.
Everything seems to be going to plan right now for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta, at least in the Premier League.
The Gunners are currently eight points clear at the top of the table with only 10 games remaining in the league campaign.
The addition of Leandro Trossard in the January transfer window has provided Arteta with a wealth of attacking options, with Gabriel Jesus now back to full fitness and Eddie Nketiah closing in on a return from an ankle injury.
They are set to be further boosted by the return of Folarin Balogun once the season has ended, with the 21-year-old currently on loan at French club Reims.
Balogun has certainly made his mark in French football this season, scoring 18 goals in all competitions.
The young striker is due to hold talks with Arsenal over his future in the summer break.
Balogun’s transfer value shoots up
It remains to be seen whether he will be given a chance to impress at the Emirates, or if the Gunners will look to cash in on him when the transfer window opens.
According to Transfermarkt, Balogun now has a transfer value of €25m (£22m) – up from €4m (£3.5m) from the start of his loan at Reims, an increase of £18.5m.
It is the 14th-highest increase in a player’s transfer value while on loan at another club.
Top of the list is Kylian Mbappe, whose value shot up from €35m (£31m) to €120m (£105m) in his initial loan spell at Paris Saint-Germain from Monaco – an increase of €85m (£74m).
Next on the list is Luka Jovic, whose loan spell at Eintracht Frankfurt from Benfica saw his transfer value rise by €58m (£51m), followed by Achraf Hakimi – who saw his valuation rise by €49m (£43m) while on loan at Borussia Dortmund from Real Madrid.
