Manchester United have discovered their route to the Europa League final after the quarter and semi-final draws were made in Nyon, Switzerland.
Erik ten Hag’s side beat Real Betis to make the last-eight and are the only British representative left in the competition after Premier League leaders Arsenal were knocked out by Sporting Lisbon.
Manchester United will now face the most successful team in Europa League history – Sevilla – in the quarter-finals of the competition. Sevilla have won the tournament six times, most recently in 2020.
Elsewhere, Italian giants Juventus meet Portuguese side Sporting, Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen take on Belgian minnows Union Saint-Gilloise and Jose Mourinho’s Roma face Eredivisie leaders Feyenoord.
If Manchester United beat Sevilla, they will meet Juventus or Sporting Lisbon in the semi-finals of the Europa League.
The two-legged Europa League quarter-finals take place on April 13 and 20 while the semi-finals are on May 11 and 18. The Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary, hosts the final on May 31.
Speaking after United’s 5-1 aggregate victory over Real Betis, David de Gea underlined the team’s intention to go all the way in the Europa League.
‘Trophies are important for us,’ he said. ‘I think the manager has shown that, putting the strong team every game.
‘We want to try to win the competition. We know there are still good teams, but we are confident, we believe in ourselves and let’s see what happens in the draw.’
