Louis Saha has urged his former club Manchester United to sign one of France’s star players for €50m (£44m) in the summer transfer window.
Erik ten Hag is keen to bolster his attacking options ahead of the 2023-24 campaign and the club have been linked to several players.
Saha, who played for United between 2004 and 2008, wants the Red Devils to bring fellow Frenchman Ousmane Dembele to Old Trafford.
The 25-year-old winger has been at Barcelona since for six years and has registered five goals and five assists across 18 games in La Liga this season.
Since his move to the Catalan club from Borussia Dortmund in 2017, Dembele has scored a total of 40 goals and made 41 assists in 178 appearances.
Dembele has won two La Liga titles and two Copa del Rey trophies in his time at Barcelona and is likely to add more silverware this term, with his side 12 points clear of second-placed Real Madrid at the top of the league.
But with his contract due to expire in the summer of 2024, many have speculated that Dembele may switch clubs in the summer.
Saha, when quizzed if United should activate his €50m (£44m) release clause, told Betfred: ‘They should explore it as it would be a bargain.
‘I would want players that would be a guaranteed success for Manchester United and with Dembele, you’re going to get goals, you’re going to get assists but for me, he hasn’t reached his full potential and that’s frustrating to see.
‘I see him as a potential wasted talent because the guy is so good and there’s no other player like him. When you look at the likes of Jadon Sancho and Ousmane competing with each other, then that’s magic competition there, oh my god. It would be a sensational frontline.’
